Hi Everyone

Once we land, could you please let me know how long it takes for Service Ontario to process and send you the health card?

Also, does our coverage start immediately? I have some prescription medications that I am taking currently and Id like to be prepared.

Could you any of you please let me know how this works?

Coverage starts three months after you land. You will have to pay for your care out of pocket or purchase private insurance to cover the first three months.

I would try blue cross or something like that. Keep in mind that insurance will only cover you for emergencies. Non-emergency care will be out of pocket (e.g. regular doctor visits / check ups).

Manulife ( expensive) and Destination Canada ( cheaper) are the 2 most popular ones.

Rx medication is usually not covered. Does depend on age and province. You can only travel with a 90 day supply of Rx medication from your home country. It must be properly labeled.
