Hello, i wanted to ask how long you can stay outside canada or ontario and still keep your ohip active.
I went to my home country and had to stay there for extended period of time. I will be back before 212 days.
Do i still need to inform Service ontario about my absence. Will my ohip be active if i return before 212 days?
Please help!!
Thank you @Naturgrl
I have been living in canada for almost 7 years before i came to my home country
Requirement of 153 days is for 2021 or it will be counted from my day of arrival ?
Example: if i arrived on nov 4,2021 and days will be counted from nov 4, 2020 - nov 4,2021?
do we need to inform service ontario if i come back to canada before 212 days?

I was out for max 30 days in the 2 years before i left.
Does this even matter if you return ontario before 212 days?
As per my understanding, we cannot use health card if we return canada after 212 days and we didnot apply for extension on absence.
Please advise

Would follow the advice on the link I provided and check with service Ontario. No you won’t have a problem if your permanent residence is in Ontario (often making you a tax resident) and you’re outside for under 212 days.
Thank you @canuck78 they said if you are under 212 days then it should be fine. As of now there is no waiting period if i decide to be back after 212 days but can change anytime.
I am working remotely and paying taxes during my absence as well

I have landed in june as PR and waiting to complete 153 days to apply for health card. In meantime i went to Quebec for two weeks. Does this mean i have to wait 2 weeks more and then apply?

You don’t hVe to wait 153 days to apply. You can apply after you land and then you have to meet the 153 days out of a year in Ontario and 153 out of the first 183 days in Ontario
