have an Open Work Permit that was obtained after graduating from University in Canada, it is expiring shortly, I recently put in my PR application under Spousal in Canada but haven't heard anything back yet...
my question is, do I apply for an OWP extension? or do I apply for a new OWP as it is now a different program that is justifying the OWP application (the first was under university reason, new OWP under pending PR application)
can I apply online?
the original OWP is reaching it's maximum number of years and would not be eligible for extension on it's own original educational reason
also, the forms are confusing, as they mention "employer that you are applying for" but I am working self employed and part time so it is an Open work permit I need, not one tied to any particular employee
1. it is PGWP (post graduate work permit ) you have now, and it is not extendable.
2. if you applied for outland, you cannot apply for OWP.
Inland: not sure you can, you should send owp and pr applications together though.
3. you are self- employed and part time work.
you need a full time job offer and have LMIA from the company, then can apply for work permit.
if you have a business and register your business, then you need to have LMIA from your own business (but this is not easy)
if you are free lancer, then you can find a way to work for foreign country and get paid in foreign currency etc.
