Hi people, I would like to know if anybody here have heard of anybody with valid Temporary Visitor's visa ever been rejected for student visa.
I have a 10 years TRV that will expire in 2023 and am planing to submit an application for a Student permit this month. Does anyone know if TRV put me in a better position.
Thanks in advance
As far as I know chances of getting Study Permit is higher if you apply within Canada. If you enter Canada with your TRV, have all docs, you may apply for study permit from inside of Canada.

That's not true. There are several other conditions you must meet to be able to apply for a Study Permit from within Canada. The vast majority of people still have to send their application to a visa office outside of Canada even if they are currently in Canada on a TRV. Being in Canada on a TRV can at times increase your chances of refusal since it makes it more difficult to show that the person has strong ties to their home country and no plans on remaining in Canada long term.
Scylla, I would really appreciate your help if you could share your thoughts on my situation.
I am in Canada on a closed WP and I am planning to apply for my SP, along with my wife OWP. She is currently in Canada on her TRV. She has had this visa for a long time (for 10 years or so) and has been here in Canada for several times (at least 8x ). She never overstayed, never had any issues regarding her status.. does this put her in a good position? As she proved several times that she will leave canada by the end of her status?

then i guess, travel history will no longer be your issue. check the forum in visa rejection and try to fulfill all the possible reason for rejection like home ties, career growth, related studies, funds etc.
