My spouse has done it after landed only 1 day, she applied at The US Embassy in Calgary and her visa has been approved, she only brought COPR, Confirmation of B1/B2 visa application and photo. The officer was really kind and asked her just few questions, How long have you been working in Canada, where are you going to the UNITED STATES and how long you gonna stay there?

Thanks for sharing. I wonder, had she ever been to the US before that? I am asking because I was in the US before, then my application got rejected when I was trying to apply to enter the US again, long before I applied for permanent residency (of Canada).

She never been to the US before and last 4 months her visa has been refused as well, no worried about your visa refusal for the first time. Now you became permanent resident you will get it. Let fill out the application and book an appointment.

Mom applied one month after landing. Retired no job no income and got approved by Calgary for 10 yrs visa. 3 simple questions in less than 1 min interview. I rarely heard of rejections from U.S Embassy in Calgary though. The officers there are friendly and I think they tend to approve at a much higher rate in the West compared to offices in Eastern Canada.
