guys need help!

i will start my PR application tomorrow march 2 (monday) and i am a physiotherapist (im aware that my profession is listed in the 38 list) my question is i came here in canada with a working visa (that is about to expire) if ill start my application and will probably take me 5-6 months or max of 12 months to process? what can i do to extend my stay here? (if my working permit expires) can i apply for a tourist visa and tell them that im waiting for my application? or anything else i can do? someone told me about applying for a "restoration" what is that about and how can it help me? thanks for your answers
