I have just completed my landing as a permanent residence through common-law sponsorship (conditional on my partner and I staying together for the next 2years).
My address with my partner is in Vancouver, BC.
I completed my landing in Ontario.
I am currently in Montréal visiting friends and plan on driving back to Vancouver in the next couple of weeks to be with my partner.
My question is:
Can I apply for a SIN in Montréal using my Vancouver address?
If so, will this create problems/ look strange?
Or do I need a Quebec address? In which case do I need to have a CQS to apply for a SIN in Quebec?
And I do not want to wait potentially another month before applying for a SIN in Vancouver
I do not know if it will create a problem for you applying for a SIN in Quebec but it could cause some questions so I would advise against it. If you are not going to be working, there is no benefit in getting your SIN now. You can get it instantly when you get to Vancouver.
