waiting
To all respectful Seniors:

I am in trouble here and I am wondering if anyone can help me.

I am a SAP applicant from 2007/1. After nearly 5 yrs of waiting I was very excited when I got my MR two days ago.

My situation comes more complicated than that.
I have to stay in my native country to take care of my dad because of his Alzheimer's disease.
My question is will I be able to extent my visa after I finish landing with medical proof?
If there is then what are the procedures and options for me?

Your valuable advise is highly appreciated!!!

Thank you

Jonathan

Once you get your visa - you must land before the date specified on your visa. If you do not land before your visa expires, you will have to apply again from scratch (extensions are not granted).

Once you become a permanent resident, you will be able to maintain your PR status by living in Canada 2 out of every 5 years.

on top of this you should also consider applying new super visa for him. this will be applicable from 1st dec 2011. processing time is around 8 weeks for vis aissuance and he will be able to stay with you for 24 months in one stretch..you will have to get private health insurance for him.. free health care wont be applicable in this case.

Hi Jonathan,

Sorry to hear about your dad. I hope and pray all goes well for you.

Cannot give you advice on what to do regarding your PR status, sorry.

Jonathan1977,sorry to hear about your dad's condition, the lord will nurture him to a better health.I would go with Scylla advice or you could get a caregiver to look after him while you are away to land or try involve members of your family for support.

All the best and congrats even though it is a mixed feelings for you.

Ig
