Hello everyone,

I finished a 4 year bachelor program in 2014 and received a post graduate work permit in July 2014. I was given 3 years of this so technically I can extend this until July 2017.

Now, from 2014 to 2016, I worked full-time and this year, I decided to do my one year master's program. I am wondering what would happen to my PGWP. Would I be able to get another year after I graduate from masters? If not, then can I still extend my original PGWP from undergrad (ie. extendable until July 2017) so I have ~2months of work visa post graduation?

PGWPs are a one time opportunity from your initial course and cannot be extended. As I understand as soon as you initiate a new study permit that will cancel out the original PGWP . Others can correct me I am wrong.

PGWP is one time only - use it or lose it. No - you won't be able to extend after you finish your Masters. No - you won't be able to get another one.

If you want to work after your Masters, you'll need to secure a full time job offer from an employer who can also provide an approved LMIA so that you can apply for a closed work permit.
