My wife is from China and she became a PR about a year ago. We want to visit the states for a trip - Disney World =)
Seeing that she's a PR (I sponsored her here under family class) do we need to obtain a VISA so she can go to America and also come back to Canada? If so could someone please be kind enough to tell me what needs to be done and provide website links?
If she requires a visa for America as a Chinese Citizen, then this does not change even though she now has Permanent Residency for Canada. PR status does not exempt visa restrictions once your country of origin is on the visa list.
When she becomes a citizen of canada, this will no longer be an issue.
What i have been told is that 'terrorists' have come through from canada to america previously and they have tightened restrictions. ( dunno how true this is)
just want to add that for non-visa exempt nationals, from all the information i've received, a visitors/tourist visa becomes much easier for a Canadian PR to obtain once they have resided in Canada for over a year.... this is esp true if they have family, job, home ect established in Canada to demonstrate their intent to return... in the first year it's apparently pretty hard to get...
