Hi all! So my girlfriend who's studying in USA is planning to visit me for a few days then return to her home country for Xmas, when she's at the border, should she tell the CBSA officer that she's visiting a "boyfriend" or just "friend plus sight seeing"? She'll have her return ticket (to leave Canada in a few days).

Thanks!

She should tell the truth... If she gets caught in deception, she might have real problems.

Thanks! However technically there is no clear line to distinguish friend and boyfriend? One reason she's concerning about this is that she wants to apply for a school in Canada next year, and she's worrying that visiting a boyfriend in Canada could lower her chance to receive a Study Permit.

Thanks!

Definitely tell the truth. If she gets caught lying by omission (not telling or leaving out important information) she will be in some serious trouble. No matter what the truth has to be told. She can always explain her situation when she applies for a study permit!
