My girlfriends work permit will expire in 2016. What are the best options for her to stay and work in Canada? Employer maybe willing to extend work permit by 1 year but I think her job may not meet the wage requirements? I know she is planning to apply for PR under the federal skilled worker express entry.
What if we get married and I sponsor her for PR? What would be the processing time for this? I am a canadian citizen.
If she applied for express entry and she received an invitation to apply then she could technically be a PR before her work permit expired, she may be eligible for a bridge permit. If you did marry her then yes you can sponsor her and the process I believe would be quick since she's already in Canada and you're a citizen. It would be under family sponsorship: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/index.asp
You can technically sponsor her already if you've lived with her for at least 12 months as common law.
