So, the first time I received an email saying "Your application (...) was updated" was 24 hours after my application. It seemed like nothing had changed but I assumed it meant they set my application status to open.
Today, almost a week later, I received again the same email, saying that it has been updated. Still there is nothing updated there, and I'm pretty sure this time.
In my opinion it means that they are working on your application and changing information inside that wouldn't appear to you.
We all get these messages, I got them like 5 times when I applied for my study permit and now I am getting them as I am applying for an extension and waiting an approval,hopefully.
You should check your account on CIC when you receive an E-mail that goes like ( You have a new message in your CIC account ) rather than ( You application has been updated ).
