Hi Forum Gang, a newbie here with a first post, and apologies in advance if my questions are a little bit silly or have been answered before.

I am an express entry candidate and looking for some advice on getting to Canada (aren’t we all).

So here are some particulars:

37 years old, UK Citizen (born and bred), BA Degree, with well over 10 years work experience as a Video Editor in TV and corporate media (applicable NOC Codes 5131, 5225), IELTS 8 overall and a total CRS Score of 403.

I’m married and my wife is also 37, uk citizen, 8 for her IELTS and with 10 years experience as a Health Visitor Assistant for the NHS. She happens to hold a degree and diploma which has got her a CRS score of 429.

One of the biggest head scratchers for me is my wife’s NOC code. Here is an example link of her job in the UK:

https://www.jobs.nhs.uk/xi/doc_viewer/?descriptor=IhwBeiQxSTsbAwZIGhcqbiUrDD0BKgROWkREV3Z7ZHtd

I’ve scoured the codes and the closest that I can find is:

NOC 4212 (Social and Community Service Workers):

https://noc.esdc.gc.ca/Structure/NocProfile/7b414a6ef0104287b73ae950dfbc5551?objectid=Bdp8ZQnnjyYiZ0X56X2S5Z8s6nZupGZR/+e1v39jxnfoIWroKcpytonWT3T1mWaZ

Anyone here moved from the UK and worked for the NHS previously that knows if that looks acceptable? I can’t seem to find anything else that fits better.

Aside from my wife’s NOC code, I also wanted to ask if there were any fellow Editors or TV people here that made the move from the UK? From my limited experience thus far, it seems like as it stands our points are not going to get us there with a normal Express Entry / ITA path and one of us will need a job offer to get a PNP and I’ve sent a lot of applications and so far I’ve succeeded in getting more spam email than any job interest. I’ve had some “let us know when you’re here” but so far nobody seems to want to get involved in immigration. Our primary target is BC and even though BC has to my knowledge the best PNP pathway, i haven’t found an employer who even understands the process. From my NOC code (5225) I can see that I qualify for the Tech Pilot Program, which means a job offer letter and a small fee for the employer and a short form to fill in means a PNP and no LMIA. Despite explaining this, I’ve had little to no luck getting an employer interested as soon as they discover I’m not already in Canada. It’s quite frustrating being told that I’d be a great fit “if only you were here already” (Sigh).

I am sorry if I’ve written too much or something doesn’t make sense but happy to give more info if need be to help answer my questions. Any help or advice at all is much appreciated and I’d be eternally grateful for it.

thanks in advance forum gang!

I'll help with one question. You unfortunately don't have enough points for Express Entry. You Would need to achieve a score of around 470 to be selected. Your options are to either increase your scores or to look into the PNP programs. Many of these do require a job offer or are only open to those working in Canada at this time. However there may still be possibilities for you and worthwhile to research if you are really keen to move here.

And yes, it's normal for most employers not to be interested in extending a job offer or support your immigration application. Typically this involves quite a bit of work and/or waiting on their end.

hi syclla thanks for your message. I am well aware that we have a points score that is too low for EE as I said in my post. I’m also well aware of the PNP pathways which I’ve looked at already, but looking for some specific advice to do with my situation and looking for specific advice with regards to potential employers or other suggestions. Thanks.
