Getting DL in Ontario with Expired US License

Hello Folks,

I will be moving to Ontario on ICT WP. I had a US DL for over 6 years and it expired in last month. Can i get the driving abstract from US and apply for G license in Ontario? Should be license be valid?
If US license doesnt work should i get the driving extract from India? which is the better option.

Yes, in theory, the licence must be valid.
