Getting a passport for new baby

We are currently living in Perth Australia and we are on a 457 temporary visa. We want to have a baby in the next year and are trying to plan the best available options. We were planning on returning to Canada by the end of 2013 but not sure how a baby would effect this plan. If I was to get pregnant and have the baby in Australia, since we are not permanent residents here, the baby would not have citizenship anywhere. We are both born and raised Canadian so will want the baby to get citizenship in Canada. My question comes from what happens with us getting the citizenship in Canada for the baby while in Australia? We wouldnt be able to leave the country without the baby having a passport?
