I'm hoping to sponsor my common-law partner (UK) to come to Canada however he needs to get a pardon for an offence (DUI) committed over 5 yrs ago while on a trip in Canada. Does anyone know if we can begin the sponsorship visa process simultainously with the pardon? It's rumoured to take a year for the pardon and then another year or so for the visa so it would be appreciated if anyone can offer advice on how to best deal with this. Thank you.
