Get my visa stamping from a third-country? is it ok?

Hi everyone

I am currently in the US on a temporary work permit. Can I directly go to Canada from here on a student visa? I already have acceptance letters from schools from Canada. But I'm not a US citizen, I'm from India.

Is it wise to go to Canadian embassy in the US or go the the Canadian embassy back in home country?
If I go here in the US, would it likely reject my visa?

I think the term they use is if you are "legally admitted" into the current country you are in currently of which i think you are ..then you can apply from there but you have to explain why you applying from there.

Yes I am legally admitted. Well, I'm trying to apply so I could do further education there
