GCMS: Counterfoil Required

Hey guys,

I just checked the forum for information but couldn't find anything.
One of my friends who applied for PR in August this year got his GCMS notes yesterday.
Now he's a little confused, as he is from a visa exempt country ( Austria ) but his GCMS
notes say

Counterfoil Required: YES

I thought a counterfoil and visa stamping was not necessary for citizens of a visa exempt country?
Or what's the deal with that entry in his GCMS notes?

All I could find was, that CIC changed the counterfoil requirements in 2011 ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/ob348a.asp )
which confused me even more, as this shouldn't say 'YES' in this notes then.

Am I right here? Maybe someone from a visa exempt country could shed light on this.

Mine says counterfoil required: yes.
I am on a British passport.

It could be something really silly like they haven't updated their dbases and can only out yes. I don't know but I'm not really worried about it

Ok, sounds good. I'll forward that to him. Just thought someone who recently received the CoPR could comment,
if for visa exempt countries, it says counterfoild required 'yes' all the way until they actuall issue the CoPR.

I recently got CoPR and also recently got GCMS notes.
My notes say: Counterfoil required: No

Do you happen to know if yours said 'No' right from the beginning? Or maybe it said 'Yes' in your first set
of notes and they changed it later on?

Yes, it changed later on.
I'm guessing the default setting is; Yes and it only gets changed later on after someone does the medical!
