Ridiculous. Studio BASEMENT place in BRAMPTON costs 2000. Those kind of landlords is the reason why ON needs a proper rent control.

There are rent control in BC, but still people complain rents are neither affordable nor reasonable. They talk about greedy landlords, too. But why don't they say about greedy municipal government or insurance companies?

There are no rent control in AB, but rents are affordable.

Has to do with supply and demand. Alberta has mores rentals available and average housing costs are also lower than places like GTA, Greater Vancouver, etc. so rental costs should be lower. Many newcomers rent from community members when they first arrive who also may provide pick-up from the airport as well not realizing they may be paying more than market value.
