Hi, was wondering if I could take up a full-time permanent position (instead of a co-op job) with a co-op work permit, and then transfer to a PGWP? I'm currently a student with a co-op work permit and intend to apply for a PGWP once my program ends.

If your coop work permit lists your employer as your university (as they oversee the coop) then an employer for a fulltime job may have a problem with it as it maybe a closed work permit. You should check with your university. Coop work permits may have an expiry date. Employers have to agree to keep you employed while you shift from coop work permit to maintained status to PGWP approved.

What about the new measure that allows eligible international students to work more than 20 hours off campus? That could be used to work full time I guess, if the student is eligible for that measure.
