Hello,

Please let me know my points for the below IELTS scores. My consultant told me that I have just 16 points which would make me 3 points short of the total 67 points. But when I tried calculating using references in other sites, I get 19 points instead .I am confused with points calculations and please help me out

Listening - 7
Reading - 6
Writing - 7
Speaking - 6.5

Change consultants you would get 19 points. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/factor-language.asp and http://www.ieltsessentials.com/results/ielts_for_canada.aspx

just by using the graph provided by CIC- looks like you can get 19 points to me!

Thank you so much. I can apply for PR since I would have 67 points as I get 19 points for my IELTS. Hope I don't have to take another test to improve my score

Is there any HelpDesk from CIC that I can contact and confirm the FSW points for my IELTS scores before I apply for PR. I dont want to take chances because I hear different points calculation of 16 & 19 for the below score. I get the pass mark of 67 points if I take 19 points for the below score

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp < - just look at this site

Listening @ 7 = 4 points
Reading @ 6 = 4 points
Writing @ 7 = 6 points
Speaking @ 6.5 = 5 points

Total = 19

Whoever is telling you that you will get 16 points is an idiot and should be ignored

Re: FSW points for IELTS score-urgert

reading 5

Already answered your question - and the answer is a NO

But the consultants say that points are not actually calculated for each ability and added up finally like how you did. They say that it is only done for QUEBEC and not for the general FSW migration. In General FSW category ,the Visa officer actually looks at the overall scores with CLB levels below to determine the points. So my scores actually fall under CLB level 7 which gets me just 16 points which is 3 points short of 67 pass mark ,Hence I need to fall in the CLB level 8 to get 20 points. I was wondering if I could double confirm my points with any CIC help desk before applying for PR. Do you know of any such CIC help desk who can confirm it.

CLB level 7 ------ 6.0 6.0 6.0 6.0
CLB level 8 ------ 6.5 7.5 6.5 6.5

My Scores
Listening - 7
Reading - 6
Writing - 7
Speaking - 6.5

Thanks

If you trust your consultant more - feel free to do so.

How we can calculate the marks as per graph by CIC.

My Scores are

L-6
R-6.5
W-6.5
S-6.5

This score is equivalent to how much score.

Please help . Thanks in advance

= 19 points

Thanks Johnny. I don't really trust these ignorant consultants.I may apply for PR directly to CIC instead through any consultant

I think the consultant is correct.

Suppose if i get R,W,S -9 and L - 6 i will come in clb7 only. so i will get 16 points only. If i go with johnny calculation then i will get 22 points which is better than CLB8.(CLB8 max point is only 20).

Logically its not possible.

I am still split in my mind whether to apply for PR or appear for the IELTS exam again. The FSW point calculation for IELTS in CIC website is not very clear on calculating the points. Is there any helpdesk in CIC where I can call them up and confirm the score. I hear a different versions of calculating the FSW points for IELTS . We need to clear the confusion.
