Hello all,

I am from Costa Rica and I have the Working holiday Visa which expires on April 28th. I’m planning to start my masters in September 2020 but I would like to stay here from April to September so that I can work and save more money to pay my study.
Is there a way for me to request a kind of extension of the working holiday or to get the study visa before so that I can start working earlier than September? Or any other way for me to stay during these 5 months.
Please advise and thanks :)

The working holiday visa cannot be extended.

Even if you get the study permit approved now, you cannot legally start working until your classes begin in September.

I can only see two ways for you to work during these five months: (1) Qualify and obtain a Young Professional visa under the IEC program. This requires you to have an employer's support. (2) Get a job offer and approved LMIA from your employer so that you can switch to a closed work permit.
