Hello. I have applied declaring my common-law partner and received a Study Permit for me, and received a Open Work Permit for my common-law partner. We have not yet traveled to Canada as classes will start in September (in 7 months)
Now we are wondering in getting married in out home country before traveling to Canada. Could this affect our permits? The change will be going from common-law to married, but with the same person. Do we need to inform this to IRCC??
What if we get married in Canada?
Thank you!

Yes you need to inform IRCC about this. Read between the lines of the emails from IRCC, usually they mention how to inform and update about any change. Same if this happens in Canada. Also just a heads up make sure you get marriage certificate and other related docs for future use as you will be asked for them.
