I am a Canadian citizen living in Thailand. I am a non-resident of Canada. I wish to offer my Thai wife (marrid in Canada) and her two daughters (17 and 25 years old) permanent residence in Canada. Is this possible? Do I have to first change my status and become Canadian resident? Is my wife's older daughter (25) elligible for permanent residency? Thank you for any input on that. We wish to move back to Canada, most probably Fredericton NB. Thank you thank you.
Since you are a Canadian citizen, you can sponsor while you are living outside of Canada. You will have to include proof in the application that you are planning to move back to Canada. You do not have to first move back to Canada though.
You can sponsor your wife and her 17-year-old daughter. You cannot include the 25-year-old daughter, unless she is dependent on her mother because of a disability.
Thank you Canadianwoman. I thought that would be the case. So my wife's older daughter can only apply for PR under the other categories, ie: business, study, etc... It's good to know, however, that I can become Canadian resident again while living abroad. Thank you.
