Flagpoling - PR Status of Parents

My parents who were in Canada on supervisa will get their PR completed soon. I am planning to get their visa stamped in Canada and also change their status from visitor to landed immigrants before sending them back home. Since we live in Toronto, we are planning to cross border at Rainbow bridge to do flagpoling. I have few questions -
1. I am Canadian citizen. Can I go with them to the border and get flagpoled? Would US Border ask me to enter USA since I would be carrying my Canadian passport?
2. Is flagpoling by foot recommended over by car on the Rainbow bridge, considering it will be cold day and much colder for old parents.
3. How long would it take if flagpoled at non-peak hours?
4. Are early hours of the day recommended on weekday or any other non-peak hours recommended?
5. Can we carry food in the car or bag if flagpoling by foot?
6. Should we carry good amount of money while crossing? The pedestrian fee is 50cents per person.
7. Any other thing to worry?

1. yes, you can go with them. none of you will need to enter the us. when you get to the us border, you simply say your parents are flagpoling and you are escorting them. you will all receive administrative refusals and will be turned back to canada. this has no effect on landing or future us entries.
2. no idea, i am not familiar with that border
3. can't speak specific to that border. in general, the landing procedure takes about 15 min. generally, the wait time is from waiting for your turn when there are others there to land or the office is busy.

5. yes, though all food needs to be declared when you go to the border. this is a normal part of crossing by land.
