Flagpoling at US boarder

I am a New Zealand passport holder, living in Canada currently on a visitor status, I have just had my work permit approved. But to activate it I have to renter into Canada.
I am wanting some information on how to flagpole at the US boarder. I am fully vaccinated, but will I still need a Covid test to return into Canada? Do I need an ESTA to leave Canada to go to the states? Or is this something I could do/ get activated by just going to the boarder services at the airport?
Any information on this would be very helpful! It’s extremely important that Canada lets me come back in as I am currently pregnant also.

You do not need an ESTA because you don't actually enter the US when you flagpole. You go to the US side of the border, tell them you are flagpoling, they give you an administrative refusal (not a real refusal), and then you turn around and re-enter Canada.

I cannot tell you how things work from a COVID testing perspective. You definitely want a solid answer on that before you go.

Don’t believe that flagpoling is allowed due to covid although there seems to be some examples of people being able to flagpole. Seems to be dependent on luck. Unless you live close to the border I would call to see if flagpoling will be possible at your border crossing.
