Hi!
My wife is planning on studying a Ph.D. at the University of Alberta, as her husband I would get the visa to work in Canada. I am a food engineer and I would like to continue with something related to my profession but I want to know how difficult it is to find a job in food science in Edmonton, and which certificates I should start getting in order to improve my chances to get something faster, do you have any suggestion?
That's a highly specialized subject, it will be hard for you to get a valuable answer. I'd recommend that you go to Indeed.ca, and search there -- the number of jobs that you see that look interesting to you will be a good measurement of how hard it will be to find one. Try things that simply include 'research' or 'biology' as well, there are always research coordinator positions at the university.
I live in Edmonton, and now is not a happy time to be looking for work, here.
