I just landed weeks ago, and looking for work. I wanna ask is there any financial assistance applicable to the new immigrants for the period they find a job ie during the searching/ unemployment period?

There really isn't. This is why you must show proof of funds as part of the immigration process. You need this money when you first settle in Canada.
