I'm currently in Canada as a visitor, staying with my wife. Does that mean I put down Canada as my country of residence? Or should I put United States, since I'm only a visitor here? There's also places to fill in my residential address, should I put where I'm staying here in Canada or an address in the states? I don't have a residence in the states atm, but I could use my parents' address if need be.
I'm also running into more questions like "Are you currently living with your sponsor" that assume I'm not living in Canada. I've been told to do the outland application process regardless, so all of this is ok, right?
When you apply outland, CIC wants you to have an address in your own country, ideally. You can use your parents' address. But if you have been 'living' in Canada for quite a while - I'd say at least 6 months - at your partner's residence, this is good evidence of a genuine relationship which you will want to include somewhere in the application.
Several people on this forum have used their partner's address as their residential address on the forms, even though they were just 'visiting', and have had no problems. You can always attach a separate sheet of paper explaining your circumstances.
I'm also having a problem with form IMM5490E; the Sponsored Spouse/Partner Questionnaire. I'm filling this all out on my computer, but many of the blanks on this particular form won't fill out. We tried it on both my computer and my wife's computer, same problem on both. I can always just fill out as much as I can and then go back and fill the rest out by hand, but does anyone have a copy of this form that actually works?
