Hi all i am just about ready to pay for my application for spouse/common law sponsorship i only have a visa debit card and my partner only has a $1000 limit on her credit card and cant get it increased, the CIC website says that you cannot use a visa debit card and that online is the only option am i reading something wrong is there another option?
Debit cards issued from a Canadian financial institution such as BMO, TD, Scotia Bank or RBC are also accepted. However, users must be enrolled in online banking to pay their fees online. Credit cards that are also used as debit cards (e.g. Visa Debit) are not accepted.

Pay the $75 and $475 fees on the credit card, then pay that off right away. Once the payment has registered on the credit card a few days later, pay the RPRF. Include both reciepts.
No, it won't matter at all if you pay the fees separately. The RPRF isn't actually required when submitting the app; it can be payed later on, though this can delay the app.
I'm not 100% on this but couldn't a friend or family make the payment with their credit card? And, you just pay them in cash. I don't think it matters much who actually makes the payment as long as the payment receipt is there.
FYI, you can temporarily increase your own credit limit any time by overpaying a card. For example if you made an extra payment of $100 to the card, you would have $1100 available credit.
i did not know that! thanks nmclean i am still waiting on my police clearance so i am hoping to just pay some fees then pay the credit card then pay more of the fees.
