I am a B.E Mechanical engineer with more than 5 years of experience in CNC machining industry in INDIA. I want to immigrate to Canada.
Should i apply for FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER (FSW) program in May or should i apply for FEDERAL SKILLED TRADE PROGRAM (FSTP) ?
Which one is most suitable for me ?
FSTC seems much better program to me because most of requirements are far easier then for FSW. But, you must have a job offer or canadian licence to apply for this one. If you don't have it (and I guess you don't), the only other option is FSW.
No, you don't need to have an arranged employmet, that is just one of the things on which you may score points. Good thing is if you can have the pass mark already.
Good luck!
Under the old system A university degree of two years or more at the Bachelor's level, AND at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study would have earned you 20points. All you would have needed to send would ahve been you transcript and copies of degree certificate. In the new system coming into effect in May, you will need to send all these documents to an ECA, they will evaluate and give you the Canadian equivalent and it is based on that that you will get the points for your degree Thus best thing is to wait till ECA are announced sometimes in April, hopefully the guide for the new FSTC will be available on CIC website by then and all grey areas will be clearly understood.

You should Check for Federal Skilled Trade program where you will just need an offer letter to migrate. Rest of the points are easy for it if you have sufficient money to spend.
