I sent out my fingerprints to the FBI on April 12. 2015, they debited my checking account on July 2, 2015 AND I finally received my FBI report on July 22, 2015.
What a relief!! I didn't use the fingerprint card that was on the FBI site. I went to the local police department and they did the fingerprints on their scanner and I used the form that they printed out.

For the country you currently live in, the police certificate must be issued no more than six months before you apply.
For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.
If your certificate is in a language other than English or French, send it when you apply, along with the original copy of a translation done by a certified translator.
I have been a "visitor" in Brantford, Ontario Canada for a year. I am Common Law with my partner now.
Are you saying I need a Police report for Brantford? I only knew of the FBI report.
Do I need a Police report for the place I was before I came to Canada and also maybe a Police report for Brantford?

LOL...No, you don't need one from Canada. CIC will do their own check for that.
Most Americans only need the FBI IHSR (Identity History Summary report), but...CIC can still also ask for police checks from the State(s) where the applicant has lived in the U.S., but that seems to be in rare cases.
