This question is for the people who stayed in USA for more than 6 months and then went back to their country. So after you come back to your country of residence, How can you obtain FBI certificate of original good conduct certificate /or conduct of no police records by submitting your fingerprints? I was hoping to get my PPR and waiiting eagerly, but now i got this mail today from singapore immigration that they want FBi certificate and asked me to submit my fingerprint. But the confusing part for me, if I am residing in Bangladesh, how can I submit my fingerprint and get the certificate? Please help me out. I was planning on flight booking( as I was hoping to get My PPR by this time and planning to get visa around June). Now this!!!! Immigration is definitely killing me, taking the last bit of strength I have.
Hi hope17,
All the information on how to get FBI certificates can be found through this page: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp
Best of luck!
This is what I did (I was a student in the US for 18 months):
I went to the Criminal Records Division of the local Constabulary. I was told to ask for a "transmission form" which is a form on which they take my fingerprints manually. When the fingerprint technician was done, I was told to take the form and my passport to the Division Supervisor, who then checked my ID, and signed and stamped the form to verify that he had reviewed it.
I then went to the bank, paid for a bank draft payable to The Treasury of the United States for US$18.00. I completed the forms from the link provided by Karlshammar, and sent the fingerprint form, the bank draft and the completed forms via FedEx to the address provided.
7 weeks later, I received the results of my FBI check.

It took 7 weeks? On the FBI clearance cerificate request, they mentioned normally it take 21 working days!!!!!so now I am on hold for god knows, how long. Why can't they ask for FBI clearance when they asked for redo medical and PCC?> This is so frustrating, they just wanna lengthen the process any way possible.
A few months ago the FBI was taking 8-10 weeks, but lately is has been faster. If they decide after 8-10 weeks that your fingerprints are not clear enough, you need to start all over again and wait another 8-10 weeks, so be prepared for a bit of a delay.
People have recently been getting replies in 7 weeks or even less. I seem to remember someone saying they got a reply in 3 weeks. Certain cases take longer than others, for example, if your name is common.
