Greetings,

My wife is waiting on her option C and then will send in our outland application through Buffalo. I think she will get it by May 25 at the latest. My FBI letter states that my search was completed on March 2, 2012.

Will Buffalo require me to do another FBI application if it the sponsor approval is not done by the 3 month FBI expiration?

I know the clearance is good for three months but is that when Miss. Ontario receives it or is it when Buffalo receives it for the 90 days? I am just wandering cause i dont want to delay the process any further and the clearance takes at least 2 months to receive. Thanks in advance

It's when CPC-M receives it.

Thanks gogogo!

Does that apply for my other clearances too?

I got my australian clearances in January 2012 since i lived there in 1997-1998. Will they request me to do these over since it will been over 3 months?

Thanks so much in advance

Also just out of curiosity what did Buffalo request from you if you dont mind? I am getting so paranoid about all these requirements and deadlines.

You're welcome.

Yes, the 3-month rule generally applies to all other police clearances (see extract from Immigrant Guide below). However, in some countries the police authorities specifically ask for a request originated from the visa office before they would process the police clearance (eg, Hong Kong in my case). In additional to Hong Kong police clearance, my visa office also asked for FBI and RPRF and gave me 60 days to submit the document (with an acceptance of extra time for FBI because of the long processing time).

Note: My mistake I didn't include FBI in my original package and was lucky that they didn't return my package. I heard there were cases the whole package was returned due to missing document and wasted some time. So it will be your choice to play it safe or to risk it. Good luck to you either way!

From the Immigrant's Guide (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp):

Police certificates
...
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.
...
The certificate must have been issued no more than three months prior to submitting your application. If the original certificate is not in English or French, then you will need to submit both the certificate and the original copy of the translation prepared by an accredited translator.

The police clearances DO NOT EXPIRE IN 3 MONTHS. THEY MUST BE RECEIVED BY CPC-M WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF BEING ISSUED. There IS a difference. As long as they are within the 3 months' range when your application is received at CPC-M, they are VALID FOR A YEAR FROM THE DATE THEY WERE ISSUED.

Clear?
