Has anyone heard of an application for an FBI background check being lost or something?
They received my prints on October 16, 2015. It's been 18 weeks and the credit card hasn't been charged or anything.I tried to get through to the FBI once and they said my application was received on the 26th, when I in fact have signature confirmation that says otherwise.
I'm worried that they've misplaced my application... 18 weeks is a fair amount over their 13-15 week processing time.
The most recent information I have is that they are processing applications for October 14th, but that was weeks ago. Does anyone have updated information?
I hate to say it, but...you should assume that it's been lost.
I suggest you call them and speak to someone directly, TELLING him/her that you're sending a second application and prints and that you'd very much appreciate them to expedite THIS one. It can't hurt.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I'm pretty irritated about it. I've been waiting to send my PR application until I receive it since I have had the time, but it's getting to the point where I actually need to send the application soon. Ottawa is turning out applications faster now and from what I've heard hiring more people, so I don't want my application to be delayed because I have to go through this all over again.
I just don't know why they told me they received my application on October 26th. Especially since I have signature confirmation that proves the person in their mailroom signed for it on the 16th.
GOOD NEWS! The FBI called me back outside of their hours (wow) and said my application was processed yesterday! They said they're currently processing applications at 16.5 weeks. From the sounds of it my application did get misplaced, she didn't say that, but I'm guessing from how quickly they responded to my voicemail (I had called outside of hours and left a message). I'm so incredibly relieved!
Yeah, of course I find out that they processed my application within hours of accepting that mine was probably lost ;D. This means I get to send in my PR application soon. Yay! I feel like things are finally starting to get moving.
