Hi All,
I’m in need for help to apply for my father’s visa, who resides in India, to Canada. His application for temporary resident visa has been rejected twice (in a gap of 1 month) on the basis of “not enough ties to homeland and insufficient travel history”. Below are other relevant details:
- I’m a permanent resident in Canada, currently working in one of the top-5 Canadian Banks
- My mother has a TRV for Canada and US - she has already visited me twice
As a backup plan, we are exploring the option of applying for Super Visa for parents for my father. I need your advice on whether we should apply for Super Visa or try again for a Temporary Resident Visa? If Super Visa is a more viable option, should I apply for both the parents together or just for my father?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. My father hasn’t been able to visit me since I have moved to Canada.
Thanks!

1. What was the purpose and length of his visit?
2. What strong ties did he demonstrate to India? Employment/business? Property/land ownership? Dependent family? Good financial situation?
3. Do post the list of documents that he submitted
Hi Bryanna,
Thanks so much for your response.
1. Purpose: to visit me and sight see
Length: 1 1/2 months
2. Ties:
a. My grandmother's affidavit stating she is dependent on my father
b. 1 property he owns (the house he, my mother and grandmother live in)
c. He is retired, but he showed contractual employment
d. We gave financial proof of his bank accounts
3. List of documents:
a. Passport
b. Invitation letter from me - proof of my employment and salary
c. Affidavit from Grandmother and proof of relationship
d. Father's bank statements and tax returns
e. Employment letter for my father - contract
f. Letter of explanation
g. Copy of my work permit (I recently got my PR)
h. Forms: IMM 5257 + IMM 5645
i. Property allotment letter for our house, which is jointly owned by my father (and his brother)
j. My Canadian driver's license as proof of residence
k. My passport as proof of relationship with my father
We also requested for GCMS information and got the following response:
"PA demonstrates limited localized international travel; see travel history on file - insufficient proof of personal financial status; see proof of funds on file - PA? Family does not appear established in home country - spouse listed as accompanying, only child is invited - limited family ties to India - Economic conditions and employment prospects in home country limited. PA has not demonstrated sufficient establishment or sufficient ties to motivate return."
Given the above information, I'm wondering what additional documents can I provide? And since his Visa has been rejected twice, should I then try for a Super Visa?
Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks again!
