Hello, i am a new member to this forum. I live in Canada and my husband lives in srilanka. We got married in june 2015. I sent all the papers in september. I got my selection certificate. But my husband received an email in april 2016 to send other documents. We sent all the documents that canadian high commission in srilanka had requested. Since then, there is no update in cic website and we didnt receive any mail. What can we do? It's been 1 year. Can we go meet them? Is it bad if we send them a letter asking updates about our application? I am in srilanka now, can we put a letter in the dropbox stating that i am in stilanka and my husband and i are available if they need additional info. Pls help us. Thank you

Order your GCMS notes to see where your case is at.

Hi I am also from canada and I sponsored my husband who lives in srilanka and I sent my application in nov 2015. You shd go to the mp near your place and for sure you will get an update on your file because I did the same and got answer. But still waiting patiently for his ppr ...

I might suggest trying other means before asking the MP to do it for you.

Try:
- ECAS (CIC/IRCC Check Status -- very slow in updating)
- MyCIC (Create an account if you don't have one. This will show you more detailed information about your case, and what stage it may be at)
- Order GCMS notes. This will provide a tremendously close look at what is happening on your case, and what the visa officers may be discussion/thinking.
- CIC/IRCC call centre

If all those fail, then you should ask your MP for help.

Thank you. But the canadian high commission from there won't they get offended if i order my GCMS. They can do whatever they want in third world countries. I am scared that they will delay my file even longer if they come to know i am checking on them. Would it affect my file if i order GCMS. Thank you

The notes would be collected and given to you by an officer in Ottawa. The high vommission may see the notes had been ordered. But ordering them is actually pretty common. You are entitled to the information.
