Just wondering if anyone had the same obstacle we have. Our families don’t know about us being commonlaw. We are living together for over 2 years got lots of proof from friends, family doctor letter, and cousin.
In the application it says why our family know or not .. culture & of course religion reasons they won’t accept.
I’m Canadian and want to sponsor my CL partner inland.
Proof
Pictures
Lease agreement
Gifts
Chat logs
Band and cc statement shared
Phone bill
Utilities in both names
Etc
You can explain why your family is unaware of your relationship and living situation. As long as the reason actually makes sense for why family can’t write support letters it isn’t a big issue.

It’s because of religious and cultural reasons. Being a Muslim it’s tough to come out. There is a fear of our families disowning us or having it be a big problem and headache for us. We love each other and no one will separate us. So we decided we can live our lives together as a couple as we live far away (different province) than our families. Here we are out and refer to each other as partners.

Parents don’t approve of relationships for various reasons so as long as you explain and have letters of support from other people, proof of cohabitation and proof of relationship you will be fine. Just write a short an explanation that your parents don’t approve of your relationships for religious reasons. It’s unfortunate but not the first time IRCC has seen a similar situation.
