I have been reading about all this 'family book' confusion, but I still am not quite sure that I have the right answer... My partner is german and his parents have a 'family book' that contains his birth certificate - but it does not seem to be listed as a country specific requirement. Also, I read that Germany stopped issuing these books 8 years ago... and this is his parent's book, not his.. Our plan was to copy/translate only the birth certificate.
Should we include the whole thing? I ask because a certified translation of this will add significant cost.
