Hi, I’m looking for opinions or if anybody has ideas about such a situation:

my wife’s son (not mine, he’s 15yrs old) did not do his medical examination because at the time he did not have documents (passport) and in Ukraine that is not required till a certain age. I’m a Canadian citizen for 20+ years now. Sponsoring my wife and daughter to
Come here. My daughter is 14 months old. So my wife did medical examination but her son did not. Once our lawyer told us that it is mandatory for him
To do the examination we started to get her son all the documents needed to do the examination. (First he needs an ID card, then he can get his passport). He has now received his ID card and we applied for his passport on December 23rd. They said it may take up to 20 business days to complete. ( right now there is a lot of holidays in Ukraine).

so the situation is as follows:

Once we found out it was mandatory from lawyer, we had her write a letter to the London,UK office to tell them that we are planning on doing the medical examination for him but we would like 60 days. We got a email reply that they received our email. That was back in November.. so we just received an email

I am about to complete the assessment of your application for permanent residence in Canada and I am unable to determine that you meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Subsection 16(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act states that in the case of a foreign national,
(b) subject to the regulations, the foreign national must submit to a medical examination.
You were asked on 2019/07/09 to present (sons name) for a medical examination within 30 days in order for us to complete the assessment of your eligibility and admissibility for this application.
To this date, we have received neither the required assessments nor any communication from you. You are being granted a final 30 days from the date of this letter to comply with our request. Should you fail to present the documentation requested, your application will be assessed based on the evidence currently available on file and this may result in the refusal of your application.”

We made an appointment with the MOM office for January 28th. We are hoping he gets his passport in time to go and do this examination.. 30 days from date of letter is January 30th.. we are afraid he may not make it in time. What do you guys suggest we do.. he will not be coming to Canada with his mom currently, but we would like to keep that option open for the future. Thank you for any help.

Does he not have a birth certificate? That is acceptable to do the medical. The ID card should also be acceptable.

hi, thanks for the reply. I’m looking into it now. My wife said she talked to the people at MOM office, about 2 months ago and they said he needs a valid passport. We are getting in contact with them now again to make sure that is true. Yes the son has birth certificate and now has the ID card. And with the ID card he had to pass biometrics. Thanks for the help. Will let you know what the KIEV MOM office says

Hi, we just talked to MOM office and after explaining the whole situation they finally told us that a birth certificate and ID is allowed. At first they said he needed a passport. Then they asked for IME number, and realized that when we gave in the documents for sponsorship we gave in his birth certificate, so since we gave birth certificate we can also use that and his ID for the MOM exam. Thanks a lot for the kind help
