Hi, I would like to ask if I need to apply visitor visa while waiting a work permit.
I have applied a PR on Family Class in August, my status has been visitor, but will be expired on December.
Do I need to extense my visitor visa?

Any advise would be appriciated.
Thank you.

You will most likely get your work permit before your status expires. When exactly in August did you apply and when in December does your status expire?

Well, an extension is a $100 peace of mind, for sure. If you do decide to apply, you need to do it by and including Dec 2.

Have you already linked your OWP application online? Is it being processed?

At almost three months since you sent it, I would wager they would have already returned it if they were going to.

I called IRCC this afternoon and they said I don't have to since I've already applied work permit, waiting the decision means I am on Implied status.
I post this question while I was waiting the operator which took me an hour. .
I enjoyed a cup of hotcholate!!

Yes, applying for the work permit gives you implied status. If, however, your work permit application were to be returned (if you paid the wrong fees, missed a signature, etc) then you'd lose implied status. But like I said, they probably would have returned it by now if they were going to.

As everyone else has basically, you're likely fine since it hasn't been returned yet. And it probably won't be.

I would like to add that this might be the best post I've seen on here. Happy to hear you made great use of your time while on hold with IRCC!

i have a feeling you will receive AOR before Dec 2nd......well, an extension is a $100 peace of mind....with IRCC sometimes its better to take the safe route, i will apply for the extension regardless.....if AOR before Dec 2nd, $100 is gone but its a token, if no AOR before Dec 2nd the extension keeps you in status because not until a decision is made on the extension application you remain in status......good luck
