Extension of multiple entry tourist visa for wife

Hi,

My wife's multiple entry tourist visa expires in next few days. We applied for her visa extension a month before
expiry i.e. in February 2019 but haven't heard anything from CIC. Can she still stay in Canada if we do not get any response from CIC?
Or will she have to move to USA(she has US tourist visa too) for a day and then come back to Canada?
Please suggest.

Yes - she can stay in Canada until there is a decision for the extension.
