Hi,
Thank you for the help so far, I am indeed grateful.
I have a few questions while filling the visitor visa extension form. My parents came to Canada on 17th Sept 2015 using a visitor visa (TRV). Their status would expire on March 17th 2016,
On the form in the section Coming to Canada (page 2 bottom):
Question:
If applicable, provide the document number of the most recent Visitor record, study Permit, Work Permit or Temporary Resident Permit issued to you?
Where can this be found, if they entered Canada using a Visitor Visa?
On the form section Details of Visit to Canada (page 3 top):
Question:
Purpose of my Visit: Should this be FAMILY VISIT?? or SUPER VISA FOR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS
Question: Indicate how long you plan to stay: From: XXXXX To: YYYYY
Now here the FROM date should be the time they entered Canada (Sept 17th 2015) or the date when their current status expires (March 17th, 2015)
Thank you for helping out.

You just answered it.
You entered Canada using a TRV, not any of the above.

"SUPER VISA FOR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS " is not a purpose, it is a document.
Visit family if that is what they are doing.

Hi Thank you your reply.

The application form actually contains the following drop down menus
1. Business
2. Tourism
3. Short Term Studies
4. Returning Student
5. Returning Worker
6. Supervisa: For Parents or Grandparents
7. Family Visit
8. Other
Confusion between should I select 6 or 7 since I am applying an extension using a section for Parents and Grandparents authorized period of extended stay.

Ah, you are filling IMM5708 (please refer to the form you are asking for proper advice).
Check the TRV, if it doesn't say PG-1 under category then they cannot chose 6.

Hi,
Thank you for the information. The category they have is V-1 on the TRV. This is because we applied and they entered Canada using a regular visitor visa (not a super visa)
People on the forum advised me that you can apply for an authorized period of extended stay extension for Parents/Grand parents if you can meet LICo and buy insurance for 1 year.
I am refering to form IMM5558E (Document checklist)
There is a section at the bottom of IMM5558E which says
DOCUMENTS FOR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS - AUTHORIZED PERIOD OF EXTENDED STAY.
Can I apply for this extended stay if my parents entered the country using a TRV with category V-1??
Thank you for your advice.

Can you find the information in the CIC website? If so then follow that advice. As far as I can tell that info was removed from the PG FAQ around 2 years ago.
