Extending study permit inside Canada - Proof of Financial Support

I was planning on getting the "Proof of funds" paper from CIBC, but unfortunately they charge 16$ for that paper, it used to be free in the past. So just wondering if my bank statements for the past 4 months would be enough for the Proof of Financial Support? I have around 10k in the most current month (December 2020).

Should I show something else?

That's good enough.
It's always good to show a support letter if your family is supporting you financially.

Just wondering if you have a sample of the support letter that you could share? I know that I could search for samples on google, but if you have done it and got your study permit extended, I'd much appreciate if you could share it with me.

I submitted mine, as my brother was funding all my expenses.


Subject : Letter of Financial Support & Sponsorship Declaration

Dear Visa Officer ,


This letter is to certify that I , XXXXXXXXX , holding ID# XXXXXXXXXX , am financially supporting my brother , XXXXXXXXXX, Passport # XXXXXXX.

For my financial status , I am a XXXXXXXX working at "XXXXXXXX" earning XXXXXXX monthly tax free salary in addition to benefits like housing, health insurance and other perks.

I find myself financially capable to finance the studies of my brother and that I’ll be responsible for the total cost of his studies, including tuition, accommodation, food, maintenance and all other miscellaneous expenses during his entire time studying in Canada.

I have provided my brother with my latest employment contract to show that I am currently employed at the XXXXXXX and bank statement to show my payroll deposits.

As proof, attach ID's etc to show relationship.
