My mother is visiting Canada with a visitor visa that expires soon in September. I would like to get her super visa while she is in Canada since I hope it's easier than having her going back and apply from her home country.
Can you apply for Super Visa for your parents while they are in Canada? how is that so? I can't seem to find the route to it on cic
Others will correct me but as far as I am aware a super visa can only be applied for from outside Canada. Standard visitor visas can be extended from within Canada http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp
Super visas are not processed in Canada. She can apply online, but it will be processed at her home country. She cannot claim residence in Canada while on a TRV and visitor status, so her country of residence in the online super visa application can only be her home country. She cannot apply for a new TRV within Canada either; those are only reserved for those with work or study permits.
What expires in September? Her visitor visa, or her visitor status? If you would like her to stay longer, as previously said, you have to apply for an extension of visitor status. Applying for a new visa will not allow her to stay longer in Canada.

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but she has a visitor (tourist) visa that expires in September. Her visitor status, if I'm correct, expires in July since visitors can only be for a maximum 90 days, am I right? What is the difference between visitor visa and visitor status?
So, can we apply for an extension of her tourist visa from within Canada? how long can that be extended for?
Also, her home country does not process visa anymore, which is more confusing for me too. There is only what they call VAC (Visa Application Center). So if she cannot apply for a Super Visa within Canada what is the purpose of applying online then?

canuck_in_uk already explained the difference between visas and status.
Visas can never be extended. You will always reapply for a new one.
Ok "home country not processing visa" isn't taken literally. It's still the home country's visa office at the embassy/consulate/HC that does the processing, just that it's coursed through the VAC, which forwards the application to the VO at the embassy/consulate/HC. Applying online is also a way to send the application to the local VO.
But as earlier mentioned, super visas are never processed within Canada. I'll just leave it at that to keep it simpler.
Hi, consider you're mother is visiting you here, are you a PR?
Bcz landed on 18th May as a PR. Card awaited - the processing time says ~57days now. so I don't have a PR number.
During this waiting period, my parents wanted to apply for Tourist visa, it categorically asks the applicants - "do you know any PR, state their PR number" - what should they mention in PR card number?
Does the UCI suffice in that field ? How else shall i address it?
