Extending PGWP - Issued until passport expiry

Hi Seniors,

My PGWP was issued until the expiry of my passport. The VO has put a remark on my PGWP that it can extended. My PGWP is expiring in Aug 2016. I should be receiving my renewed passport in few days time. I was wondering when should send my application to extend my PGWP? Can i send it as soon as I receive my new passport with a letter of explaination or should I wait until next year to extend it?

From what i've read at various sources the application should be submitted about 3 months before expiry date.
I am in similar situation and submitted mine 3 months before.

CIC is taking long time to process WP application. Besides my company is very strict on work permitting. So i have to get it before my current one expires. Did anyone try to extend before 3 months of expiry?

Dude 3 months is ample time , and once you apply unless its rejected you are in implied status so good to work! I wouldn't worry too much
