Hi There,

I came in on a LIMA exempt work permit (and I've been here for around 24 months).

Our visas are about to expire and I recently got a job back home and plan to move back but my husband wants to finish off his current gig (another 6 months) in Canada. He's on a spousal open work permit.

I'm wondering if there's any way to extend his work permit by another 6 months even if I don't plan to be in the country? Is he able to change or extend his work permit?

We're both Australian in our late 20s.

Cheers.

Hi

Unless his employer has an LMIA, no, he doesn't qualify. He could look at IEC but if your permits expire soon, there is likely not enough time.
