Extend the stay on Visitor Visa

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone was able to extend the stay on visitor visa multiple times? And what is maximum requested duration? 6months? 1 year?
I applied to extend my mom's stay once already for 6 months and would like to apply again for a year if possible.
