Hi there - we are working on submitting an application to extend my husband's stay in Canada while our application is in process (I was accepted as a sponsor last week).
What should I put for a reason for request? Is it okay if I say that he is in-process for permanent residency and wishes to stay in-country longer? I just don't want to say the wrong thing..
Also - how long should we ask for the stay to be? 6 months? 1 year?
And when it comes to income (they ask about money saved up to support him and money for transportation home), what should we say? He has about 3k in savings but I support him completely while he is here.
I just don't want them to deny an extension and have him have to go back to the states again..
I would say the reason for extension is you have a PR app in process and you would rather not be separated during the process. include a copy of your sponsorship approval letter. also include bank statement showing he has sufficient funds to return home if extension is denied or if he doesn't receive PR by then. Write a letter saying you will be supporting him during his stay. since you have approval for sponsorship I would ask for 1 year. IO's know it could take up to that long to receive your PR. GL!
I am trying to extend my stay online... does anyone know if I could use screenshots of banking websites to show finances? Or take digital photos of passports as they are such better quality than photocopies?

I just said I was employed by so and so, make this much an hour. Living at home with parents etc. I never showed a banking thing for the extension And we just scanned up his passport for that part, you could take photos if you want.
Hi. I am planning to act as guarantor to someone to extend their stay. Would this affect my ability to sponsor a relative for permanent residence a few months after being guarantor?
